Jewish Museum
Frankfurt am Main, Germany
In October 2020, a modern annex for Jewish history and culture was opened alongside the historical Rothschild Palais, which has housed the Jewish Museum in Frankfurt since 1988. At the connecting point between the old and new buildings, a spacious forecourt has been built.
For this, Israeli artist Ariel Schlesinger has designed an 11-metre high tree sculpture called “Untitled” consisting of two trees cast in aluminium – one planted in the ground, the other upside down with its roots protruding into the sky. The slim, cylindrical Lif light column blends harmoniously into the spectacular surroundings without dominating the forecourt. This system luminaire has been configured to handle different lighting tasks, with the top element fitted with a quadruple Tritec optic, the light of which ensures pleasant general lighting. This is supplemented by a Twinspot module, which accentuates the façade of the new building by means of precise spotlighting. As well as the basic lighting function, a smart function has been integrated into the Lif: four adjustable surveillance cameras blend into the modular system, providing security and safety for citizens.
