In Octo­ber 2020, a modern annex for Jewish his­tory and cul­ture was opened along­side the his­tor­i­cal Roth­schild Palais, which has housed the Jewish Museum in Frank­furt since 1988. At the con­nect­ing point between the old and new build­ings, a spa­cious fore­court has been built.

For this, Israeli artist Ariel Schlesinger has designed an 11-metre high tree sculp­ture called ​“Unti­tled” con­sist­ing of two trees cast in alu­minium – one planted in the ground, the other upside down with its roots pro­trud­ing into the sky. The slim, cylin­dri­cal Lif light column blends har­mo­niously into the spec­tac­u­lar sur­round­ings with­out dom­i­nat­ing the fore­court. This system lumi­naire has been con­fig­ured to handle dif­fer­ent light­ing tasks, with the top ele­ment fitted with a quadru­ple Tritec optic, the light of which ensures pleas­ant gen­eral light­ing. This is sup­ple­mented by a Twinspot module, which accen­tu­ates the façade of the new build­ing by means of pre­cise spot­light­ing. As well as the basic light­ing func­tion, a smart func­tion has been inte­grated into the Lif: four adjustable sur­veil­lance cam­eras blend into the mod­u­lar system, pro­vid­ing secu­rity and safety for cit­i­zens.
