An extension that harmoniously complements the department store
Project
Galeries Lafayette
Annecy, France
Annecy is a city in the Alps in the south-east of France. The city is distinguished by its social, cultural, architectural and economic modernities and leaves a rich heritage. Annecy's Galeries Lafayette are part of these unexpected and audacious architectures, emblematic of the city's heritage. Wishing that the historical qualities of the building could nourish and dialogue with an innovative and more contextual architecture, Citynove chose the architect Manuelle Gautrand to accompany the renovation of the site.
The objective of the project is to create a large extension of six circular volumes consistent with the existing one, intended to house many shops and services that complement Galeries Lafayette. For exterior lighting, the various options of the Line range such as columns, bollards and wall mounted luminaires have been chosen for this project.
The design philosophy behind the Line is to radically reduce the complexity of the luminaire form and to integrate the optics into a vertical line. The result is slim luminaires that blend perfectly into their surroundings. The extremely reduced form of the Line adapts to the architecture like a chameleon through the appropriate choice of materials and optics. This makes the bollards and wall variations in this series ideal tools for lighting close to buildings.
