Cannes – Reinvigorating public space
Project
Versatile lighting on the promenade de la Pantiero
Cannes, France
The popular French seaside resort of Cannes is located on the Mediterranean and remained a fishing village until the early 19th century. The first holiday homes were built in the 1830s by French and foreign aristocrats who sought to enjoy the Mediterranean climate, characterised by hot, dry summers and mild winters. Today, Cannes is best known for its annual International Film Festival in May, but the city also hosts numerous trade fairs and festivals.
These events attract many tourists; Cannes receives around three million visitors every year. A well-functioning public transport system facilitates travel around the city and helps to reduce traffic congestion. As part of the project on the Promenade de la Pantiero, the extension of the BHNS (Bus à Haut Niveau de Service) network includes high-frequency, fast bus routes. Special light columns, Line with beveled tops, have been installed in this area, ensuring optimal visibility while blending harmoniously into the cityscape.
Lif elements were used in the urban design, giving the area a modern, elegant touch. At the same time, they provide efficient, warm lighting thanks to integrated Tritec optics in silver and gold. The Yloo pendant version contributes to the welcoming atmosphere of the pedestrian area.
Additionally, Elo bollards complete the overall lighting scheme, offering both a practical and aesthetic solution for pedestrians. The warm, accentuating character of the Tritec Sky optic with golden reflectors creates a harmonious ambience. Tritec Sky provides just the right amount of light, illuminating the surroundings without detracting from the natural beauty of the stars and the night sky.
This project demonstrates the city's commitment to creating a functional and attractive urban environment that encourages mobility while enhancing the quality of life for residents and visitors alike.
