The town square Graf-de-Chardon­net Platz in Kel­ster­bach near Frank­furt am Main was cre­ated to act as the focal point of a new res­i­den­tial and indus­trial con­cept. Its design acts as a reminder of the site’s his­tory. The Enka pavil­ion, rotat­ing info boards and a pagoda spanned with ropes call to mind the arti­fi­cial silk pro­duc­tion which for­merly took place at the premises of Enka GmbH here.

Pre­mium-qual­ity bench fit­tings and Japan­ese pagoda trees lend the square a new resplen­dence that entices passers-by to linger for a while. Illu­mi­na­tion and light­ing design are catered for by 6 — 8 m Cosy light poles by Selux, a mod­u­lar family of lumi­naires that com­bines the cosy design of a free-stand­ing lumi­naire with state-of-the-art light­ing tech­nol­ogy and a high degree of flex­i­bil­ity.

The Cosy is con­ceived so that its lumi­naire mod­ules can be posi­tioned as required, indi­vid­u­ally or in mul­ti­ple rows. Var­i­ous pole heights and light dis­tri­b­u­tions allow pro­fes­sional needs-based illu­mi­na­tion of squares like this one in Kel­ster­bach, as well as of facades, stat­ues and the effi­cient light­ing of roads and foot­paths.

A spe­cial fea­ture of the Cosy is its satin-finish or par­tially satin-finish light dif­fuser made from van­dal­ism-proof PMMA. This encloses the light­ing tech­nol­ogy ele­ments, form­ing a single lumi­naire form along with the pole. Trans­par­ent sub­sec­tions also enable directed light cones that emanate from the inside of the dif­fuser.

At night­time, an inter­est­ing light show take place around the illu­mi­nated dif­fuser while, by day, the Cosy helps to shape the sur­round­ing envi­ron­ment, com­mu­ni­cat­ing a sense of urban­ity and cosi­ness.
