Innovative and ecological - the newly illuminated residential area
Project
Le Sycomore, a sustainable community
Bussy-Saint-Georges, France
Bussy-Saint-Georges is a French commune located in the department of Seine-et-Marne in the Île-de-France region. The town has managed to preserve a pleasant and friendly environment while benefiting from the excitement of the region, the Paris metropolitan area.
The modern, eco-friendly Sycomore residential area in Bussy-Saint-Georges has carried the "eco-neighborhood" label since 2017, as the project places particular emphasis on preserving biodiversity, sustainability and aesthetics. While the multi-family and single-family homes are closely connected to the rest of the city, they also remain in tune with nature. A long green corridor with community gardens, children's playgrounds and squares runs through the neighborhood and scenic corridors invite walkers or cyclists. To offer an alternative to the car, pedestrian and bicycle avenues connect all blocks, which can also be reached by public bus.

The renovation of public lighting in the district was undertaken as part of the revitalisation of the Sycomore ZAC. The luminaires selected for the project are Line bollards and columns with six and twelve modules. Their sleek lines contribute to a calm and clear urban landscape.
Micro-faceted reflectors ensure high visual comfort and compliance with glare standards. Precision optics minimise light pollution and illuminate spaces while respecting the natural environment.
The second luminaire type included in the project is the Aira with two-module Tritec optics, whereby the cylindrical luminaire housing was chosen here. With its transparent, almost intangible-looking housing, the Aira luminaire shows just how harmoniously modern lighting can blend into urban environments creating an iridescent presence.
Background
The sleek contours of the Line luminaire and the cylindrical, seemingly floating form of the Aira luminaire complement each other harmoniously in this project. The aesthetic design of the public space is particularly highlighted in the traffic-calmed area with footpaths and cycle paths.
